Trunk cables are used for structured backbone cabling with high fibre counts in data center environments. They enable fast and reliable installation in cable ducts and raised floors and are typically based on loose-tube cable designs to minimize mechanical load. Pre-assembled trunk cables with connectors on both ends simplify deployment in patch and splice boxes. A wide range of connector systems can be used, including MPO as well as ferrule-based solutions such as URM or SN with 8-fibre Uniboot, supporting attenuation budgets and future migrations.
