With more than 40 years of experience in emergency and prime power generation, Alan Beech has held senior leadership roles with industry leaders including Cummins and Rehlko, shaping resilient power strategies for mission-critical environments. Since the late 1990s, he has delivered advanced power generation projects into the data centre sector, witnessing its evolution from early co-location facilities to today’s hyperscale and AI-native operations. His career spans engineering, programme delivery and commercial leadership, giving him a rare long-term perspective on how resilience demands have transformed over the past 25 years. Now Director General of AMPS—the Association of Manufacturers and suppliers of Power generating Systems, which has represented the industry for over 55 years—Alan champions the technical and strategic capabilities of the power generation sector. He is dedicated to ensuring data centres access smarter, cleaner and more adaptive power solutions fit for modern pressures, from grid constraints to the demands of AI-driven infrastructure.
