Avelin is an accomplished data analyst with experience in the higher education sector, currently working at Cardiff University. Her work centres on how data can help facilitate strategic decisions in the organisation and making data more accessible for all. She is also deeply passionate about the future of AI and its ethical implementation, particularly within the social sector. She has also worked with the Leeds University Union as a data analytics coordinator and with Tata Consultancy Services as a software engineer before embarking on her journey at Cardiff University. She is an advocate for increasing the visibility and participation of women in STEM and has been mentoring students as part of the Stemettes - Student to Stemettes programme. She also holds a Masters in Business Analytics from the University of Leeds. Apart from this she has a podcast, loves reading, horse riding, scuba diving and spends her time experimenting with new technologies.
