Deryk qualified as a doctor in 1985 from Charing Cross and Westminster Hospital (now Imperial College). He spent 12 years as a full-time clinician, during which time he published two papers in the BMJ, one of which was awarded the Evian Health Progress Award. He also authored two patient-facing books on asthma and anaphylaxis. Deryk continues to undertake occasional GP locum work to maintain his clinical skills (GMC no. 3109029). He subsequently moved into a role as an Innovation Consultant at BOC for two years, gaining in-depth experience in patenting and product development. Deryk then went on to found and scale four businesses in the healthcare sector. These included Metamorph, a novel training and assessment company for medical representatives; PRS, a clinical research company with an innovative recruitment strategy; The Medical Channel on Sky, focused on continuing medical education; and Anaxys, a MedTech company. He successfully exited all four ventures. His current business, Inception Outreach, was founded over a year ago and evolved from pre-existing companies. Inception Outreach focuses on business development for its clients, and the team estimates it has generated over £800 million in revenue for clients over the past three years.
