James Blackshaw is a Digital Sustainability Product Manager at the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, leading on Sustainable AI within Defra’s Digital Sustainability team. He currently serves as the Chair of the Cross-Government Sustainability and AI Working Group as well as its counterpart in the Government Digital Sustainability Alliance. James has experience in product management, business analysis and digital strategy within government, and a background in AI law, regulation and social impact.
James currently leads on the development of standards, tools and principles around AI sustainability within the department and facilitates this across government. He is interested in the development of collaborative frameworks to ensure a consistent government approach to responsible AI.
