Joe is Chief Technology Officer at the AI Centre for Value-Based Healthcare, and Head of Data Science and AI at Guy's and St. Thomas' Hospitals in London. He is a specialist medical doctor and a data engineer/scientist by background, with more than a decade’s experience working in technical roles across the NHS, in academia, and in the health-tech / life sciences sectors. At the AI Centre, Joe leads work across the London Secure Data Environment and other national programmes, responsible for developing multi-modal data lakes across NHS Trusts, federated AI platform technology, and the application of data science and predictive analytics across a London-wide data ecosystem. His team is developing Large Language Models for deep phenotyping of unstructured patient records, opening new doors to precision medicine, medical foundation models, and capabilities for live clinical trial recruitment.
