Prof. Ryan McGlen is an Advanced Technology Manager, leading R&D of next generation electronics thermal management technology at Boyd’s facilities in Ashington, UK. With +20 years of experience in thermal management of hi-tech electronics applications, he has worked on single- and two-phase technology development for sectors including telecom, aerospace and automotive applications. His current work is focused on European Space Agency (ESA) ARTES activity on two-phase aluminum-ammonia heat pipe technology for space applications. Prof. McGlen has patents in the additive manufacture of heat pipe technology and electric vehicle (EV) thermal management. He is a visiting professor in practice at Newcastle University and co-author of the textbook, ‘Heat Pipes, Theory, Design and Applications’.
