Stefan Nieborak is a board-level Chief Information Security Officer at Telefónica, Founder and Managing Partner of d-RiskCyber. With a PhD in Philosophy, Stefan brings a rare combination of strategic depth, technical expertise, and operational leadership to help boards and global enterprises transform cybersecurity into a driver of resilience, trust, and sustainable growth.
At Telefónica, Stefan leads large-scale cybersecurity transformation initiatives, including the evolution of the Security Operations Center into a modern Cyber Fusion Center, enterprise-wide Zero Trust adoption, and the integration of secure-by-design and secure SDLC practices into intelligent and AI-enabled systems. His work strengthens ransomware readiness, improves cyber resilience, and aligns security execution with core business objectives across complex global environments.
As Founder of d-RiskCyber, Stefan built a consultancy recognized for AI-driven Security GRC, resilience maturity assessments, and advanced ransomware defence frameworks.
Previously, Stefan held senior cybersecurity leadership roles at Morgan Stanley, where he directed enterprise cyber risk initiatives, launched the Security Data Acquisition & Control function, and led the Insider Threat Mitigation and Data Loss Prevention programs. His early career in capital markets technology at RBC, J.P. Morgan, and Zurich-Scudder adds deep experience in trading systems, cloud migration, and regulatory compliance.
Stefan is widely recognized for translating board priorities into measurable outcomes through executive dashboards, resilience frameworks, ransomware playbooks, post-quantum encryption strategies, and
AI/ML risk governance models. His philosophical training uniquely strengthens how cyber risk is framed ethically, strategically, and conceptually enabling
