How to Optimise AI Infrastructure for Heat Reuse & Decarbonisation?

04 Mar 2026
Energy Efficiency, Cost Management & DCIM

"As artificial intelligence workloads continue to scale exponentially, the energy intensity of AI data centers has become a defining challenge for both operators and policymakers. The convergence of high-performance computing, advanced cooling technologies, and sustainability targets presents an urgent opportunity - and responsibility -to reimagine AI infrastructure for a decarbonised future.

This panel will explore strategies to optimise AI data centers for heat reuse and carbon reduction, examining both technical and systemic solutions. Experts from industry, research, and energy sectors will discuss how liquid cooling, thermal energy recovery, and integration with green houses and district heating networks can transform waste heat into a valuable resource. The session will also address design considerations for high-density AI clusters, lifecycle carbon accounting, and policy frameworks that incentivise low-carbon operations.

By connecting advances in cooling technology with circular energy systems, this discussion aims to chart a practical roadmap for sustainable AI growth - turning today’s data heat challenge into tomorrow’s energy opportunity.

In addition, David & Stefan, as former volunteer leaders of the EMEA OCP community & founders of the DDP group (DDP = DataCenter Decarbonisation Project), together with their fellow professionals from the data centre industry, will provide insights into the latest innovations & technologies and thus an outlook into the near future of the industry."
