This panel will explore how viable it really is for the DC Sector to secure its own energy supply. With growing pressure from the wider electrification of, pretty much everything, and grid infrastructure delays stretching into years; has the time come for the data centre sector to take control of its own destiny. With the talk of new technology options (Gas/Hydrogen/Thorium SMRs), the question is how viable they are and what the appetite is for adoption. The panel will explore whether self-generation and investment in private energy infrastructure will offer the promise of true energy independence for data centre operators or is better to left to the energy providers to resolve the problem.
